Call capture is a term used to describe a telephone based technology that captures personal data from people who call a properly provisioned toll-free phone number. After the call is placed, the Call Capture system notifies the owner of the toll-free number that a call has been placed and what the caller's phone number is, as well as other additional information, like what extension they entered and what they listened to. The system was designed as a device for real estate agents to generate quality buyer and seller leads while allowing the agent to legally bypass 'Do Not Call' laws.
Real estate agents, for example, might display their toll-free call capture phone number on a sign-rider (small, sometimes 12 × 30 sign that sits on top or underneath of the For Sale sign in a homeowner's yard), with a call-to-action like "Free 24 Hour Recorded Information—Call". When someone drives by, notices the sign, writes the phone number down and calls on his cell phone or land line, they are greeted by the real estate agent's personal greeting and are directed to dial in the extension for the home they saw. Once entered they listen to a 45–60 second "audio tour" of the home.
At the end of the message, the caller can either transfer directly to the agent, replay the message, enter another extension, or simply hang up.
Regardless of what they do, the agent who owns that toll-free Call Capture line will be notified within seconds of the caller's phone number, extension entered, recording name (i.e. 123 Main St.) and marketing source that triggered the call (i.e. sign-rider).
Our Call Capture is of the highest level of Call Capture services available to date.
We are specially designed to capture the callers true identification, or ANI (Automatic Number Identification). Most Call Capture companies only capture the caller's "Caller ID" but in many cases this can be spoofed, faked, or sometimes just changed by a carrier during transmission.
Automatic Number Identification (ANI). ANI serves a function similar to Caller ID, but utilizes a different underlying technology, and is usually impossible to block by prefixing a call with *67.
ANI was originally developed by telecommunications companies for billing purposes and is one of the core technologies behind 911 emergency services. It's also available for commercial purposes, for customers who might benefit from knowing who is calling them. The Federal Communications Commission allows anyone who is paying for a phone call (800 numbers are free to the caller, not the owner of the 800 number) to know who is calling them.
So don't waste your time with Call Capture companies that only capture Caller ID... you would just be wasting money and leads.
